The City of Sky Valley Municipal Election will be held Tuesday,
November 3, 2009.  Polls are open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM on
election day.  The polling place is located at City Hall, 3444 Hwy 246,
Sky Valley, GA.

the general election, set candidacy qualifying dates and fees, set the
last day to register to vote, to appoint an election superintendent,
election managers, chief municipal registrar and absentee ballot
clerk, and th set forth the compensation thereof.

Qualifications for Office
  • Must have been a resident of the City of Sky Valley for 12
    months continuously prior to the date of the election of
    councilmembers.
  • Each person so elected shall continue to reside within the
    corporate limits of Sky Valley during that person's period of
    service as councilmember.
  • Each councilmember shall be registered and qualified to vote in
    the municipal elections of the City of Sky Valley.

Elected and appointed officers of the city are trustees and servants of
the residents of the city and shall act in a fiduciary capacity for the
benefit of such residents.  

Political parties shall not conduct primaries for city officers, and
names of candidates for city officers shall be listed without party
description.  For the purpose of electing the mayor and council, the
City of Sky Valley shall consist of one city-wide election district.  The
candidate for mayor and the candidates for city council receiving the
most votes city wide will be elected.

VOTER REGISTRATION
If you are not registered to vote, the last day to register to vote in
the November 3, 2009 election is October 5, 2009.  You can
register to vote at City Hall or at the Rabun County Registrar's
Office.    

ABSENTEE VOTING
To vote by absentee ballot, you must submit an absentee ballot
application.

You may request an absentee ballot by mail for no reason up until
the Friday preceding the election, October 30, 2009.  No absentee
ballots will be mailed after that date!

You may vote by absentee ballot at city hall beginning 21 days
prior to the election, Tuesday, October 13, 2009.

If you bring your absentee ballot application to city hall, you will be
required to vote at that time.

ADVANCED VOTING
Advanced voting is held the Monday through Friday immediately
preceding the election, Monday, October 26 through Friday,
October 30.  No reason is required to advance vote.

THERE IS NO VOTING THE MONDAY IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING
THE ELECTION, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2009.
